Set Lunch Menu St Julian’s

Two courses, €19.50. Three, €24.50. Alfresco dining on our terrace, included.

Matto’s set lunch menu runs Monday to Friday, 12:00 to 15:30, on St George’s Bay in St Julian’s, Malta. Two courses cost €19.50, three courses €24.50. Handmade pasta, pizza and desserts come from the same kitchen as dinner, with vegetarian options on every course and alfresco seating on the terrace.

The lunch set menu, in short

  • Two courses (starter + main): €19.50
  • Three courses (starter + main + dessert): €24.50
  • Monday to Friday, 12:00 to 15:30
  • Handmade pasta, pizza and desserts, same kitchen as dinner

Around St Julian’s, lunch tends to go one of two ways: something greasy that seemed like a good idea at the time, or a bill that ruins the rest of the afternoon. Locals know this. Visitors usually find out the hard way.

So here’s the Matto way: Monday to Friday, from 12:00 to 15:30, we do a set lunch. Two courses for €19.50 or three for €24.50, right here on St George’s Bay.

And before anyone asks: this is not a stripped-down lunch menu. The pasta is handmade. The pizza dough is handmade. The desserts are handmade. Same kitchen, same standards, lunch prices. A little bit crazy, a lot Italian, even at 12:30 on a Tuesday.

Lunch Deal in Malta

What €19.50 gets you on St George’s Bay

Here’s the full damage: a starter, a main and a table on St George’s Bay for €19.50. If you are feeling extra sweet, add dessert and it’s €24.50.

If you know the area, that’s below what lunch in this part of St Julian’s usually costs, and that is before anyone’s even mentioned a table on the terrace… We know. We set the price.

And nothing shrinks to fit it. The carbonara is the same one we serve at dinner: handmade rigatoni, guanciale, aged pecorino. Same kitchen, same standards. Just a better price at midday.

The same rigatoni we roll for the dinner menu goes into the lunch carbonara. The deal is the price, not the portion of care.

Two or three courses, your call

€19.50 keeps the afternoon intact. €24.50 makes the afternoon. Both are correct answers.

An alfresco table that costs nothing

Lunch in the open air, on our terrace. Most lunch deals happen under fluorescent lights. This one happens in the sunshine.

Lunch by the Sea in Malta

The best part of our set lunch isn’t on the menu

We’re steps from the water on St George’s Bay. Close enough to walk from the beach. If you’re spending the day at the beach, lunch doesn’t have to mean leaving the bay, or settling for whatever comes in a wrapper.

And if you’re local, here’s a secret: midday is when St Julian’s is at its best. Quiet, bright, and yours. Most people in offices never see it. You could.
